The Passion of the Christ (Movie)
by Golf inafter hearing the pro's and con's about the movie, i went to see it this afternoon.
i know we all have differing views, but i'm interested in knowing what impression it left you.
for me, i went in with a critical eye and i was emotionally detached from the movie.

Gender Lines
by Mysterygirl ini have just finished reading a book called gender outlaw.
in this book the righter has an opion that gender is based on "moden life" rather then the "human form", ie do you look, act, talk and have the package of a male or female in your current state and even life upbringing - or were we born male or female and that is that.. if we look, act and talk and even have the package of the gender that we insist that we are, does that mean we are male or female ( i say that i am a woman, i have the package of a woman, i look like a woman and i talk like a woman, my drives licence and birth certificate say that im a woman) so what am i ???.
the reason that i am asking this is, i had a visit from a elder (that i have never meet before)and he was talking about my transexuality and the reason i was dfs.

Hi Mystery,
It's good to hear from you.
I personally believe that gender is a function of biology although gender roles do tend to be definied by the society we live in.
I also believe we are a combination of both genders to a degree. Although in most people one of the genders is more dominant. So the gender we usually assoicate with is the more dominant one within us.
Do you associate with one gender more than another, i.e. you feel like a woman, or you feel like a man??
Cheers D.K.

Tree of life
by BluesBrother inlets face it, the bible does not say and so any explanation is little more than speculation.
those of us here that believe the bible has value can only reason on it as we see fit.
personally, i do accept the scripures but i do not see the need to take all of genesis quite as literally as the wt does.

I don't think the concept of sin applies to angels and spirit creatures in general. Probably only applies to humans. Can an animal sin?? I don't think so.
I don't really believe that according to the bible human's have free will. Maybe the angels do, but definitely not humans. According to the bible god's exact's a price for our actions, especially if they are not according to his desires. So it's definitely not free.
And to make things worse he doesn't accept Visa, Mastercard, Diners or even American Express. Only currency he's interested in dealing with is death. Death of animals (e.g. sacrifices) & death of humans (e.g. flood and Jesus)
Just seems so petty and morbid.

The Gaia hypothesis is simply that idea that the Earth is a living organism
by frankiespeakin ininteresting c&p plus link:
this, however, lead to lovelock perceiving the earth as a complete whole.
while on a walk in the countryside in england, lovelock described his hypothesis to his neighbor william golding (author of lord of the flies), and asked advice concerning a suitable name for it.

If Jesus died so Christians can be saved......
by DevonMcBride inthan why aren't there "thank you's" going out to those responsible for his death?
obviously god pre-planned the crucifixion and resurrection.
so those that killed him were following god's plan.. devon

The whole logic behind the reasoning that jesus died for our sins so that we might be saved totally escapes me.

AUSTRALIAN EX-JWS & JWS
by Dansk inthe february 14, 2004, issue of the age contains an interesting interview with broadcaster kate langbroek.
this lady was one of jehovah's witnesses: "acceptance by them is conditional upon you remaining a jehovah's witness.
i don't have any friends who are witnesses now because i left.".

Hi ClearlyNow, thanks for your response, and as you can tell i have obviously read it.
I know i have only a few posts to go before i make "junior" but i just think that it's inappropriate to be labelled a "newbie" or a "junior" especially since i been around for a looooooong time
I just don't post that often. But i do alot of reading. Maybe I could get my description fast tracked to "Loiterer" or "Silent Jedi".
I'll just get back to my loitering now...
Cheers, DK
